TEENPROLIFERS TAKES ACTION AGAINST HBO’S FILM UNPREGNANT, SET TO RELEASE SEPT. 10

TeenProLifers will continue a strike campaign against Unpregnant, an upcoming HBO comedy about a teen who tries to obtain an abortion without parental consent.

TeenProLifers was disturbed to hear about HBO Max's plans to release an "abortion comedy" aimed at the teenage demographic. On August 25, the organization released a petition asking HBO Max to remove Unpregnant from its streaming services, as it portrays abortion in an inappropriately light-hearted manner. TeenProLifers, with help from partner organizations, has now collected over 6,000 signatures, emphasizing the disapproval of the community. In light of the petition drive’s great success, especially amongst teenagers and young adults, TeenProLifers recently announced their call and video campaign as a continuum of their ongoing protest against Unpregnant. The team and supporters believe it is imperative to reiterate to HBO the disapproval from their vast amount of viewers toward a movie that frames abortion in a comedic light.

TeenProLifers asserts that the production of Unpregnant is a blatant abuse of the media to persuade teenagers that abortion is not only an easy solution to an unplanned pregnancy but a fun one. The organization stands by its mission to effectively mobilize youth to advocate for preborn lives. TeenProLifers believes abortion is a serious topic that should not be at all romanticized or taken lightheartedly.
